It must be an every boxer's dream to defeat Floyd Mayweather, widely considered as one of the greatest boxers of all time. It always seems too hard to put a boxer in a fight with him so everyone is always on a Floyd Mayweather fight hype train.
Even a fight with Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, a professional boxer in the same calibre as Floyd Mayweather, took so long to arrive. Boxing fans had their Manny Pacquiao hype train prolonged in finding out who will win between the two pound-for-pound boxers.
It was indicated that last 2015, Manny Pacquiao hype train lasted for about six and a half years. Unlike the Manny Pacquiao hype train which was realized on May 2 of last year, Floyd Mayweather retires on the Conor McGregor hype train.
In an interview with Fight Hype,Floyd Mayweather said that it is time for him to move on from trying to put a fight together with Conor McGregor. Thus, his statement puts the Conor McGregor hype train in a halt.
"I feel honoured to be the biggest name in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) and in boxing and I do not even compete no more", Floyd Mayweather ardently added. This pretty much explains why Floyd Mayweather put the McGregor hype train out of service on Saturday, September 17, 2016.
Yahoo! Sports detailed that the Conor McGregor hype train started with Conor McGregor's blow-up with the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) over media commitments.
The blow-up has led many fans to question if it was legitimate or it was just a much opportunist self-promotion for the two combat sports. The latter is likely to become true; Floyd Mayweather chose his words delicately to keep himself in the limelight despite retiring on the Conor McGregor hype train.
Things can still change over time. Who knows when Conor McGregor hype train materialize? If a Manny Pacquiao versus Floyd Mayweather fight materialized after six and a half years, a Floyd Mayweather versus Conor McGregor fight is not far from happening.
