Minecraft Version 1.4.7 is Live for PC, Compatible with 1.4.6 Servers

It's a very small update, but an update nonetheless.

PC Minecrafters who sign to will have the option of upgrading to version 1.4.7. The patch isn't nearly as large as last month's massive 1.4.6. The best thing about though is that anyone who updates won't have to wait for their favorite server to update, as 1.4.7 is compatible with 1.4.6 servers. You can check out the complete list of updates below.

- Fixed a crash related to joining a server, leaving it, then trying to connect to another.
- Fixed a crash when arrows are fired from dispensers.
- Fixed a multiplayer crash when using fireworks without a fireworks star.
- Fixed a long timeout when checking SRV records.
- Fixed a formatting problem with bold text.

With over 4 million copies sold to date, Minecraft is currently the third most played online game on the Xbox 360, coming in after Halo and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. The PC version still boasts the most players at about 8 million. The pocket edition comes in next, having hit the 5 million download mark last month.

Mojang also had quite the Christmas, selling approximately 453,000 copies of Minecraft across all versions.

An open ended sandbox (literally) style game available for less than $30, it's not hard to see why so many people have latched onto the Minecraft phenomenon.

Players can join a multitude of different servers dedicated to various game mods, where they can work together as a team to build something amazing, or fiendishly destroy structures.

It's so successful that the game even has its own convention, Minecon, most recently held at Disneyland Paris. It also offers a slew of merchandise including shirts, scarves, magnets, sticky pads, and recently, even Legos. Mojang and company are even open to the idea of a movie or television show.
