Peyton Manning threw three touchdowns and passed for over 300 yards as the Denver Broncos defeated the Baltimore Ravens 31-20 late Saturday afternoon in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs.
Manning went 29-37 for 344 yards in his tenth consecutive win against Baltimore, the second of this season. The Broncos defeated the Ravens 34-17 back in week 15 of the regular season.
Baltimore got on the board first when Ray Rice broke into the end zone on a 15-yard touchdown run. But the Ravens would never regain the lead for the remainder of the contest, as the Broncos rattled off the next 21 points to take a 21-7 advantage into the locker-room for halftime.
Manning started threw touchdowns of 30 and 27 yards and 19 yards during the scoring run. Eric Decker made an amazing diving catch on Manning's third touchdown pass.
Knowshon Moreno ran for 122 yards and a score for the Broncos, Eric Decker add 104 yards on seven receptions with two going for touchdowns.
Baltimore scored 13 unanswered points in the third quarter, but 14-year-veteran Champ Bailey had his second interception of the day. The turnover led to a Matt Prater field goal that gave the Broncos a 24-20 lead going into the game's final quarter.
Ravens' quarterback Joe Flacco went 21 for 37 for 244 yards, lost a fumble and threw two interceptions. Ray Rice ran for 88 yards on 15 carries with one touchdown. Torrey Smith had 5 receptions for 67 yards and tight end Dennis Pitta added 7 grabs for 85 yards.
Broncos' linebacker Von Miller had two sacks and a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He led Denver with 11 tackles.
The number one-seeded Broncos will now face the winner of the Houston Texans, New England Patriots game in the AFC Championship for the chance to go to Super Bowl 47.
Longtime Baltimore Ravens' middle lineback Ray Lewis had eight tackles in what is likely his last NFL game. The Super Bowl XXXV MVP hangs up his jersey after 17 years in the league all with the Ravens.
