Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops II was the biggest selling game of 2012 in the UK.
According to a report from MCVUK, the latest GfK Chart-Track reveals that the military shooter topped Electronic Arts' FIFA 13 as the top selling game of the year in the UK.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II was developed by Treyarch and was released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows and on Nov. 30, 2012 in Europe.
Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed III and Microsoft's Halo 4 took the third and fourth spots on the list with Hitman: Absolution rounding out the top five games of the year.
According to MCVUK, all five of the best selling games were released in the last two months of the year, meaning that the games tallied their impressive numbers in a short time period.
Other notable titles in the top 20 include Far Cry 3 at the seven spot, Borderlands 2 at 10, Mass Effect 3 at 11 and Sleeping Dogs at 20.
The biggest surprise is FIFA 2012, which made it all the way to number 8 on the list ahead of many blockbuster titles. FIFA Street also made the list at number 14.
