Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, and Roman Reigns have since gone separate paths, each successful in his own right. One thing all have in common is that they were champions at a certain point in time in the WWE.
Now, all are playing catch-up to the new breed of champions. Seth Rollins is trying to win the Universal title from Kevin Owens, Dean Ambrose wanting to get even with AJ Styles while Reigns is not being molded into a feud with Rusev for the United States title.
Reigns was in the running for a shot at the Universal title until Rusev intervened and pulled him out of the picture. Now, is seems obvious that the WWE has sent the “Big Dog” reeling and likely primed for the US title.
Reunion in the works
WWE fans had previously hinted of wanting to see a “Shield” reunion at some point. But after the WWE brand split, that may be hard to book. Reigns and Rollins are with Raw while Ambrose is on SmackDown. As most have probably noticed by now, each show has a specific pay-per-view where only stars from a particular brand are in the spotlight.
But there are other big WWE pay-per-views that could make it happen. Ones like WWE Survivor Series or better yet Wrestlemania. The question is how will the WWE do that with the stars working exclusively on their respective shows?
We have seen a lot of instances where there would be invasions for each show. Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton did that before SummerSlam so that is possible.
But what could be a catching storyline to see the “Shield” reunite at least once? Rollins is being setup for a match with Triple H while Reigns is feuding with Rusev. Ambrose could be easily plucked out from SmackDown seeing the shift in attention to Styles and John Cena right now.
There is no timetable for it to happen though there are complications to consider. How will the WWE creative team pull it off?
