This October 23, viewers and fans of the AMC show will finally get to see who is the first victim of Negan's bat in "The Walking Dead" season 7. We now have proof of how "epic" the upcoming season will be thanks creator Robert Kirkman who recently shared some details about the show's return (without spoiling too much, of course).
Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly that the upcoming "The Walking Dead" season 7 is going to be "extremely interesting" mostly due to the fact that the show is adding more characters and more layers to the story. The show is introducing the Kingdom in addition to the Hilltop, the Saviors, and the Sanctuary. This is opening up the minds of Rick and his gang to the fact that there were others like them who survived the zombie apocalypse, but may have dealt with it in a different manner.
While the show's earlier seasons may have seen Rick and the gang say, "We've got this!" to the zombie apocalypse, "The Walking Dead" season 7 will see realize that they're not as great as they think they are, Moviefone reports. More interestingly, Kirkman revealed that the challenges of the new season may pull apart the team and create conflict between the members. Does this mean that Rick will switch teams to appease Negan?
Switching sides is a TV/film trope that has been played out several times. In fact, it may not be surprising if viewers see Rick switch teams to appease Negan in "The Walking Dead" season 7. If Rick has got a bullet (or a bat) to his head, he would most likely do it to sacrifice himself for the team.
If Kirkman says that their fear of Negan would tear apart the community, it's a possibility that Rick or anyone else within the group would switch teams to appease Negan. Whether they would fake it to make it or just to it "undercover," it would be one interesting storyline to explore for "The Walking Dead" season 7.
"The Walking Dead" seaso 7 arrives to AMC on October 23.
