Gamers who are planning to upgrade their older consoles into PlayStation 4 Slim or Xbox One S is in for a treat via new trade-in scheme GameStop is offering. Prices of these brand new consoles can peak at $300 but GameStop can cut the price by almost half.
GameStop trade-in is as option if console gamers are toying the idea of ditching their old consoles to catch up with new generation PlayStation 4 Slim or Xbox One S. To peg the deal win-win, GameStop offers $125 for the original PS4 and Xbox One while giving the chance to upgrade one notch higher in the console hierarchy. The trade-in will result to owning a new console for $175 on top of $125 credit. There is an additional cost for taxes of course.
It is safe to presume that gamers will spend more if the trade is between Xbox units. 2TB Xbox One S is first to invade the console market at almost $400. Lower capacity 1TB and 500GB units will release on Sept 22, so $175 cash out is only possible if GameStop already have the 500GB version. Trusted Reviews has said that Xbox One S packs a slight difference in performance compared to its predecessor with upgrade on HDR support and upscale 4K.
Now about PlayStation 4 Slim, Tech Radar called this new entrant as runaway winner compared to the original PS4. There is notable improvement on power efficiency in this trimmed console plus better DualShock 4 controller. Downside is on lack of 4K Blu-ray support and absence of optical audio.
For those who are interested to grab this one-time offer, GameStop will run the promo until Tuesday, Sept 20. Meaning, gamers have few days to decide if they are willing to shell out few hundreds for the opportunity to upgrade or stay content with what is already at hand.
