Harley Quinn's stunning good looks and crazy but loveable antics have gotten her to a different plane as reports say that Margot Robbie is off to new heights. The Australian actress will be signing a first-look deal with the studio and already has two projects set, including a "Suicide Squad" spinoff.
Hollywood Reporter said that the said first-look deal will enable her to produce and develop feature films through her LuckyChap Entertainment banner. Robbie will bring with her some of her colleagues in this deal which include Josey McNamara, Tom Ackerley and Sophia Kerr.
Margot Robbie, who is only 26 years of age and fairly new in Hollywood, has quickly gained momentum in her career in an exceptional way. LuckyChap is already in post-production of "Terminal," which is its first movie project as producer. Another film under development is a biopic of Tonya Harding entitled "I, Tonya," in which Robbie will play the figure skater. Robbie and LuckyChap are also producing together an adaptation of the Matt Ruff novel "Bad Monkeys, together with Scott Stuber of Bluegrass Films and Dylan Clark of Universal Pictures.
Hit Fix reported that "Suicide Squad" was not phenomenal, but highlighted Margot Robbie's method acting skills, which caused her to develop a good relationship with Warner Studios. The non-conventional anti-hero movie grossed merely over $700 million worldwide and had mostly negative reviews online. More popular hits of the same genre including "Avengers: Age of Ultron" or "Captain America: Civil War" were able to outperform "Suicide Squad" by raking $1.1 billion.
Even before "Suicide Squad," Warner Brothers Studio's budding relationship with the beautiful actress was already obvious. She recently portrayed big roles in "The Legend of Tarzan" and "Focus." This new deal will highlight Warner Brother's renewed angle on female-driven storytelling as it comes up with new moves. Earlier this year, Warner Brothers Emerging Film Directors Workshop was created as a drive to increase female presence in the industry. Big female- driven upcoming projects include "Wonder Woman," DC's iconic female Superman, and "Ocean's Ocho," and all female take on Ocean's 11.
