Xbox Live To Feature Easier Region Switching According To New Report

Microsoft is apparently working on a new way for gamers to migrate their Xbox Live account to a new region without having to go through the current grueling process.

According to a new report by Neowin and reported subsequently by IGN, the new feature is currently in a testing phase, but Microsoft has yet to confirm this new feature.

Neowin's sources have reported that gamers are allowed to migrate their accounts to a new region once every three months. The transfer moves everything including their gamer tags, achievements, Microsoft Points, and remaining time on their subscriptions to the new region.

Not all services and item will be transferrable as some content and applications is region locked.  Internet provider TV services and application like Xbox Music will not be transferable to your new region.

Xbox.com's support site it says, "You cannot change the country or region that is associated with your Xbox LIVE account. If you have switched countries and want to access Xbox LIVE from your new location, you have to create a new Xbox LIVE account in your new region."

The current process to keep your stats and achievements takes anywhere up to six weeks and likely involves calls with the Microsoft support team. The new process would make this wait period and phone calls obsolete. Gamers would be able to hop online and quickly transfer their accounts to a new region without the annoyance.

IGN has reached out to Microsoft for confirmation about the new feature, but has yet to receive a response from the company.
