Far Cry 3 Beats Black Ops II On The Weekly UK Sales Chart

Ubisoft's Far Cry 3 was the number one selling video game in the UK for the final week of the year, beating Electronic Arts' FIFA 13 and Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

Black Ops II was on top of the charts for six straight weeks, but has fallen to third behind FIFA 13 and Far Cry 3.

Far Cry 3 was released on Nov. 29 in Australia, Nov. 30 in Europe, and Dec. 4 in North America. The game is set on a tropical island and features a story filled with kidnapping, human trafficking and survival instinct.

In the game protagonist Jason Brody is on vacation with a group of friends on a skydiving trip, but they all land in different parts of a pirate-infested island, and are captured by the pirates.

Jason escapes from captivity, but his older brother Grant is killed in the escape. Jason is found and saved by a man named Dennis, who is part of the Rakyat, the island's natives who are battle against the oppressive rule of the pirates.  Jason eventually joins the native in their battle against the pirates in an attempt to save his friends.

Far Cry 3 combines role-playing and first person shooter elements as players gain experience points, skill trees, and a crafting system. The game also features some stealth tactics as players can sneak up behind an enemy for an attack.
