‘American Horror Story’ Season 6 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Official Plot & Cast Revealed! Premiere Episode Reveals ‘Lost Colony’ Theme

The "American Horror Story" Season 6 plot has been a subject of various speculations. The production had kept mum about it the whole time until this week when the new season premiered. This time, the FX horror series follows a format of true crime documentary.

"American Horror Story" Season 6 is titled "My Roanoke Nightmare." The theme highlights the colony that disappeared in North Carolina back in 1590. As reported by Deadline, Roanoke pertains to North Carolina's Roanoke Island, where in an English colony, known as "Lost Colony," composed of 117 settlers disappeared. There's so much mystery to this disappearance as only the message "Croatoan" etched on to a tree served as a clue that was left behind. What really happened to the colony remains uncertain but there are theories suggesting that the settlers were attacked by neighbors.

With Season 6's theme established, it appears that fans will no longer have to expect opera and children as part of the story, as what series creator Ryan Murphy had teased in March at PaleyFest. The Lost Colony theme, on the other hand, was already hinted to be part of "American Horror Story" Season 6 after TMZ released set photos referencing "Croatoan."

Meanwhile, the premiere episode revealed that "American Horror Story" Season 6 features a show within a show. Being a documentary, there were interviews and actors reenacting the scenes. The story follows interracial couple Matt and Shelby, played by Andre Holland and Lily Rabe, respectively, who moved to a 1792 farmhouse in North Carolina after Shelby's tragic miscarriage. They share their story, which was reenacted by Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Sarah Paulson.

Now that the "American Horror Story" Season 6 theme is revealed, fans are not quite pleased with it, reports DailyStar. Some were annoyed that their favorites didn't appear in the premiere episode, while there was one who expressed her confusion about the whole story. Nevertheless, fans are happy that the new season is here. "American Horror Story" airs Wednesdays, 10 p.m. on FX.
