Robert Griffin III posted 404 all-purpose yards and Alfred Morris ran for three touchdowns to help the Washington Redskins hold off the Dallas Cowboys 38-27 to win the NFC East Championship in the season finale of NBC's "Sunday Night Football.
Griffin threw for 288 yards and ran for 116 of Washington's 215 rushing yards as the Redskins won their seventh-straight game and insure themselves a home playoff game.
Washington broke open a 14-all tie early in the third quarter with a 15-play drive, which was capped by Griffin's 15-yard touchdown pass to Pierre Garcon. The Cowboys would cut the their lead to 21-17 with a Dan Bailey field goal before the end of the half.
Tony Romo led a 10-play drive to start the third quarter that ended in another Bailey field goal and put the Cowboys with in one point of Washington.
Romo completed 25 of 38 passes for 359 yards and two touchdowns for the Cowboys but also tossed two interceptions. Dez Byrant grabbed in six catches for 134 yards for Dallas.
Griffin answered right back, leading the Redskins down the field for a quick touchdown, as he completed passes of 21, 23 and 19. Morris took the ball at the four yardline and stormed into the endzone making it 28-20.
On the Cowboy's next possession, Redskin's defensive end Ryan Kerrigan tipped Romo's pass at the line of scrimmage and defensive tackle Barry Cofield picked off the ball.
Dallas' defense minimalized the damage and held Washington to only a field goal, but the Redskin's would get the ball right back when defensive back DeAngelo Hall intercepted Romo's downfield pass.
Griffin would take the 17-yard into the endzone on a quarterback option play to official put the game out of reach 38-20.
The Dallas Cowboys would score on their next drive but never threaten to score afterwards.
