‘The Winds Of Winter’ Release Date, News & Update: When Can You Expect It To Hit Shelves?

George RR Martin remains mum about the exact release date of "The Winds of Winter" book. Fans have been waiting for more than five years for "A Song of Ice and Fire" to hit the shelves. However, the author himself gave out several hints as to the release date of his sixth book in the series.

No Release Date?

It appears that George RR Martin isn't fond of surprises. Two years ago, the renowned author revealed on his blog that the release date for "The Winds of Winter" won't be a mind game per Parent Herald. The critically-acclaimed author said he will announce directly to his fans if the book is ready to be released; no clues to decipher, no teasing. He further added that "The Winds of Winter" will be released on whatever day he completed it. So fans should expect that there won't be a surprise launch of some kind for "The Winds of Winter."

 While there's no exact release date for "The Winds of Winter," George RR Martin was kind enough to reveal the occasions his book will unlikely to be released. For one, Martin said that the highly-anticipated book won't' be released in Christmas. He also added that the book won't be coming out on Valentine's Day or Lincoln's birthday too. That could only mean that the release date could only come from one source: George RR Martin himself.

False Alarm

Previously, there were reports that a placeholder for "The Winds of Winter" appeared on Amazon France. The item has a list date of March 9, 2017, which prompted the waiting fans to conclude that it was also the release date. However, it was later proved that the news was a hoax. The ISBN and the release date were not true.
