Two weeks to go and the 2016-17 NBA season begins. Fans are surely starting to root for their favorite teams but let us take a deeper understanding about potential weak points for Eastern Conference teams Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets.
Starting with the defending champion Cavs, the primary question about the team is who will pinch hit for Matthew Dellavedova. Rotation among players is a key factor to ensure that top scorers will come in fresh at the endgame. Dellevedova is not bad either at 40 percent accuracy from the perimeter so his absence left a gaping hole. Dellavedova signs with Milwaukee Bucks for lofty $48 million four-year term.
The consolation for Cavs is addition of rookie Kay Felder to support Kyrie Irving. Surely, Felder will have to do some adjustments for NBA gameplay. Cavs knows that he can be as explosive as Irving if he can find his momentum early though, Hoops Habit reported.
For New York Knicks, the squad will sport a relatively young team come October. Carmelo Anthony is the deciding factor for Knicks if only he can improve or even return to higher yields of his younger years. Last NBA season, Anthony dropped to 20.3 points per game average, according to Hoops Hype.
Derrick Rose is a good addition to the team if the former MVP can find his old game. Rose has a lot to prove in his new squad because they are wanting for better results. Knicks attained a heartbreaking 35 wins last season albeit being a contender.
Another hyped up team is Brooklyn Nets. There is a potential in Brook-Lin tandem that they will field in this 2016-17 NBA season. Brook Lopez and Jeremy Lin are both super scorers given right guidance and sufficient push. Then it circles back to the old premise that Nets can be a true contender only if the untested duo produce what is expected from them.
