"The Punisher" is the latest Marvel spin-off series on Netflix. Ben Barnes of "The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian" will have a regular role in the spin-off series. He is speculated to play Bobby Saint, who is believed to be a corrupt and angry villain.
According to a report in Independent, Bobby Saint was in the 'Punisher' film of 2004. He was responsible for the death of Frank Castle's wife which was the reason why he was linked to the family. The casting for "The Punisher" series needs to be discussed by Netflix and Marvel yet.
Ben Barnes' credit also includes playing Sam Adams in 'Sons of Liberty. 'Once the spin-off series kicks in Barnes is going to be the villain opposite Jon Bernthal's role.
In a report from TV Line, Bernthal's villain was first seen on the second season of "Daredevil." It then prompted Netflix to do a spin-off for the foe. Steve Lightfoot of Hannibal will serve as the series' showrunner.
Netflix already has several Marvel series including, Daredevil and Jessica Jones. It also will pick up Luke Cage which is already coming. Other Marvel series on the works for Netflix are Iron Fist and The Defenders. The Punisher will be the sixth Marvel series to be added on Netflix.
Meanwhile, a report from Screen Crush indicates that there are speculations of auditions for Dennis Landstrom's role in the "The Punisher"series. Landstrom is believed to be David Lieberman's stand-in also known in the comics as "Microchip" or "Micro."
There are reports stating that "The Punisher" will be aired in 2017. However, with the way things are going, 2018 may be likely for an air date. Marvel bosses have not revealed any information yet of the show. They also are quiet about Frank Castle to appear in "The Defenders."
