It is very crucial for any online service to be fast and reliable among many other categories and Xbox Live and PlayStation Network have been the subject of comparisons. While those who are avid users of both might already know, Microsoft has recently revealed the unbiased results of a study which claims its Xbox Live is the better choice.
GameSpot reports that Xbox Live offers "the fastest, most dependable multiplayer experience possible," as said by head of operations Dave McCarthy. While both Xbox Live and PSN crash once in a while due to several factors including maintenance or slow connection, McCarty appears very pleased with what the report says. He also added that despite the positive result, Microsoft will continue to work harder to further improve its online and network services to benefit its clients.
Gaming Bolt said that the result of the study done by IHS Markit which said that Xbox Live is better than PSN is something that almost every gamer knows by now. The study rated both PSN and Xbox Live across eight different parameters from login to network speed, player finding and matchmaking, parties and voice chat and a lot more. In all, except two matchmaking categories, the results showed that Xbox Live had indeed outperformed PSN and ranked higher for the "overall experience" category.
The IHS Markit study was conducted just last June and July of 2016 and got its results from tests that utilized top selling games. However, not tracked in the study were download speeds as both PSN and Xbox Live gamers would agree that speeds for both can be even better than they are now.
McCarty also adds in his reaction that they "recognize it is an ongoing journey that requires considerable investment, feedback, and improvement." He also says that "managing and maintaining a network is complex and there is an army of individuals who work tirelessly on Xbox Live because at the heart of it, they are just gamers like you." He also noted that they are currently working on bringing a load of new features like Clubs, groups arenas, as well as cross-play between Windows and Xbox Live.
