iPhone 7 has finally been unveiled by Apple on Sept. 7. The Cupertino-based company has reportedly introduced new hues of the device, a glossy black finish dubbed Jet Black and a charcoal black type named Black. While the Jet Black variant has drawn some attention, the new hue appears to come with a problem, scratches.
The iPhone 7 Jet Black variant has, apparently, the tendency to easily get scratched as revealed in Apple's disclaimer found in the tech specs official page. According to the company, the phone's high shine could show fine micro-abrasions when using. With that, some reports suggest that the nine-step anodization and polishing process from Apple is not enough to make sure that iPhone 7 does not suffer from abrasions.
According to reports, Apple recommends the use of a smartphone cover to safeguard the Jet Black iPhone 7 from getting scratched easily. It is also important to note that the Apple disclaimer is not addressed for the users of the Black iPhone 7, which may likely be due to the fact that the variant has a matte finish.
Nevertheless, several iPhone 7 users still believe that the Jet Black hue remains a better color option for the smartphone. Despite the warning of a possible scratching, some users would not mind a smartphone cover to prevent the abrasions, Tech Times reported.
Meanwhile, a free iPhone 7 with 32GB of memory is currently being offered by Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon to their new and existing customers for a limited time only. Based on reports, the major wireless carriers allow a trade in of their iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S Plus or iPhone 6 in exchange for the new iPhone 7.
However, some reports claim that offer is not really for free since the carriers offers a credit to the user's account. This suggests that they cannot just cancel the service and bring home an iPhone 7 once they took the offer.
iPhone customers need to subscribe to the service for 24 months, otherwise they will pay the balance of the phone's price, CNet reported. Watch how iPhone 7 Jet Black Variant can get easily scratched:
