The Neo Geo handheld console, X Gold, goes up for sale today. In honor of the release, SNK and Playmore commisioned a video with lots of pans and flying text to show off the console's "sexiness."
Admittedly, the ability to plug in the handheld to the television and use it as a more traditional console, complete with classic arcade controllers is pretty damn cool.
Neo Geo was known for making some excellent arcade classics like Metal Slug or the King of Fighters series, featuring fighters from both the Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting series. However, its success at the arcades didn't translate to the home console. Its own hefty $650 price tag, coupled with some games that were in excess of $200 at launch just about doomed the console when it was released in the early 90's. However, it did find a niche market of fans that kept the console going all the way into 2004.
