Angry Birds: Star Wars Hits Facebook

You can now play Angry Birds in pretty much any way possible, now that the Star Wars addition is available to play on Facebook.

The Lucas makeover gives each bird its own Star Wars styled power, bringing a bit more depth to some of the tired Angry Birds additions of late. The classic Red bird gets a Luke Skywalker hairdo with light sabre, the yellow bird gets a Han Solo blaster (note the reflective surfaces, making timing a new and intregal part to puzzles), and so on.

The Facebook version adds new features like cooperative and competitive play, a first for the game, leaderboards, as well as three new exclusive power ups: saber sling, thermal detonator, and blaster droid.

You can check out a trailer below to check out some of the new power ups!

You won't tire of the Facebook version any time soon, as Rovio has plans to add five new levels each week, as well as holding weekly tournaments with in-game rewards as prizes.

Since it's release by RovioMobile in 2009, the original Angry Birds and all its additions have reached (cumulatively) over one billion downloads. Angry Birds has since branched out onto virtually everything with a screen, be it home consoles, PC's, e-readers, and so on, with new episodes and spin-offs, and now, even plush toys and a clothing line.

It even has its own line of snacks, and the Angry Birds soft drink has managed to overtake both Coca-Cola and Pepsi in Rovio's homeland of Finland in terms of sales.

With this latest Star Wars tie-in serving to further the Rovio empire, the company is showing no signs of slowing down. Rovio has said it plans for Angry Birds to be "much bigger than Disney." Future plans even include a theme park, debit card, and more.
