Nothing like some good 'ol fashioned data mining to get the dirty details. Ahead of any announcement from Gearbox, some enterprising gamers took it upon themselves to go through Borderlands 2's most recent patch, and found some more details for the next DLC, Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt.
The official description for the DLC looks to be as follows:
"Danger! Excitement! Mustaches! It's time for another episode of Vault Hunter Adventures, featuring Sir Hammerlock! In this week's tale, our hard-boiled heroes travel to the savage continent of Aegrus! Their goal? To uncover the most exotic creatures Pandora has to offer, and give 'em the old one-two!"
Here are some more specific details for the campaign, courtesy of the Redditor who did the digging.
- The DLC is located on a new swamp/jungle continent called "Aegrus".
- There are currently 5 main story missions and 12 side missions.
- There will be a new vehicle named the 'fan-boat' which can be summoned from a Catch-A-Boat. It will come equipped with 68 customized skins, as well as corrosive, incendiary and shock weapon mods.
- A new raid boss ("Imagine, if you will, a Stalker the size of a small building. Now imagine yourself killing it.").
- One new head and character skin for each character class in Hammerlock's own style, examples below.
- It will feature about 5 main quest missions and 12 side-missions.
- More Seraph items.
- New enemies including the borok and scaylion.
- Monster-tracking side missions assigned by Sir Hammerlock.
- A self-important but not-so-well-known new enemy who is "super-pumped we're archenemies now", and who leads a tribe of jungle savages and has an evil plan that might actually work.
- A new treasure room full of goodies. There's a time limit though, ala General Knox
- Even more Claptrap
Additionally, a future update to Borderlands 2 (codenamed 'Gardenia') is coming according to the datamined information. There's nothing indicating whether these will be purchasable packs or unlockable packs but names for each three packs are "Domination Pack", "Supremacy Pack" and "Madness Pack."
Gearbox is also working on an additional character class for Borderlands 2.
