Double XP Weekend for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Has Begun

This weekend's double XP event for Black Ops 2 is officially underway. Prestige hunters on all platforms now have 71 hours and change to keep chasing the dream.

In addition to the double XP weekend, Treyarch has also revealed that Elite Competitions are now live, and that the double XP will also be awarded to clans as well, but you'll have to sign them up first.

Three competitions are offered, with awards for total confirmed kills in Core Kill Confirmed, total kills in Core Team Deathmatch, and captures in Core Domination at 50, 100, and 200.

This will be the first double XP weekend since Black Ops 2 was patched for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. The patches addressed a number of issues, and made a series of adjustments to several of the game's SMGs, assault rifles, sniper rifles, shotguns, pistols, and equipment/ grenades, so your multiplayer experience should be a bit improved. A patch is also being developed for PC versions.

The double XP event comes to a close Monday, Dec. 17, at 10 AM.

Since its release, Black Ops 2 has managed to gross over $1 billion, which is just another milestone for the shooter. Shortly after the game's launch, it was revealed that Black Ops 2 managed to set records as Amazon's most pre-ordered game ever. It also managed to hit a sell-through of over $500 million worldwide in the first 24 hours of its release, according to Chart-Track, and GameStop president Tony Bartel wrote that the retailer sold more than1 million units worldwide, and that "'Black Ops II' is shaping up to be our biggest game launch of all time." It currently stands as one of the most played online games on about every major platform.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is out now for Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo's Wii U.
