Grand Theft Auto V Release Date And News: Rockstar Wants Multiple Cities From Previous Games In The Next GTA

Boarding the 7:00 am flight from Liberty City to Los Santos could be a possibility in future Grand Theft Auto games, according to Rockstar North head Leslie Benzies.

In a recent interview with Digital Trends, Benzies said the developer would like to create a Grand Theft Auto game that features all the cities from the series where players would be able to travel back and forth between the areas.

"Of course at some point we would like to have one big world containing all our cities and let the player fly between them and revisit their favorite areas," Benzies said. "In that context re-imagining Vice City would be very interesting."

Grand Theft Auto Vice City recently celebrated its tenth year anniversary with a new edition for iOS and Android devices and Benzies says the city exist in Rockstar's current HD universe.

"There are a few references to the city in our current-gen GTAs so it is part of that HD universe, and it is certainly somewhere we would love to revisit," Benzies said. "However Vice City, perhaps more than any other GTA game, was as much about the era as the setting. Miami in the 1980's is so iconic it would feel strange to revisit the city in a different time period."

Rockstar is releasing Grand Theft Auto 5 in the second quarter of 2013 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Rockstar currently has no plans to release the game for the PC or Wii U, but has said that it is being considered. Last month, gamers created an online petition to get GTA V on the PC. The petition has surpassed 100,000 signatures.

GTA V is expected to be larger than any game in the series and bigger than Rockstar's other current-gen titles. It will feature three interchangeable protagonists whose stories interconnect as the player completes missions.

The game is also expected to have a multiplayer component similar to Rockstar's Max Payne 3. The "Crews" feature will link players through a social network between Rockstar's video games, starting with Max Payne 3 and Grand Theft Auto V.
