The recent Borderlands 2 patch fixing the badass glitch seems to have brought some new information with it. Trophies for an apparent campaign titled Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt popped up on PlayStation 3 versions of the game following the patch's installation.
Said trophies include "Been there", "Done that", and "Face off," which seem to require players to complete all hunting side missions, discover all named locations, and complete a mission called "The Fall of Nakayama." Makes sense, as Hammerlock is the Pandoran equivalent to famed Victorian explorer Dr. Livingstone. As for Nakayama, it's likely a new area to be introduced in the episode, similar to Torgue's "Badass Crater of Badassitude," or Captain Scarlett's Oasis.
Polygon reached out to Gearbox for confirmation, where a spokesperson was able to confirm the name of the next DLC was correct.
During a Q&A session with fans via Kotaku, Gearbox President Randy Pitchford said he feels "a lot of confidence in announcing the four new, big, campaign DLC's for Borderlands 2."
Doing the math, with both Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage and Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty in the bag, two more DLC campaigns are expected, and Sir Hammerlock's is likely next in line. The Gearbox spokesperson response to Polygon was similar, saying, "There are still two add-on campaigns scheduled to release as part of the Borderlands 2 Season Pass and we are really looking forward to sharing news about our third add-on campaign and other downloadable content soon."
Further more, while responding to a fan's question on Twitter, Pitchford confirmed that they are in indeed "working on another character" for Borderlands 2, which would make for the sixth playable vault hunter, and second DLC character after Gaige the Mechromancer.
While it may not be an exact release date, Pitchford did "guarantee that there will be more DLC for Borderlands 2 before the world ends."
We'll be sure to keep you up to date as more information becomes available. Borderlands 2 is out now for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
