Speaking with GameZone, Gearbox President Randy Pitchford said, "We are just getting started and have incredible momentum to improve and add to the game all the way through the holiday season and beyond. We can't wait to show everyone what more we have in store for Borderlands 2."
Evidently, Pitchford and Gearbox are keeping true to their word. Responding to a fan's question on Twitter, Pitchford confirmed that they are in indeed "working on another character," which would bring the vault hunter total to 6.
Unfortunately, all that's known about said character is that it, he, or she, is currently in development. That's it.
The last (and only) DLC character, the Mechromancer, sports a big friggin' robot on her side dubbed the Deathtrap that she made herself. Pitchford describes it as Claptrap's big angry cousin, calling it a, "gigantic evil robot that'll just beat the living shit out of the enemies." Like Tiny Tina, this makes her one dangerous teenager, even by Pandora's reckoning.
Borderlands 2's most recent DLC, Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage, is approximately the same length as the last DLC campaign, Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty, and similarly includes new content, such as trophies, weapons, new challenges for badass ranks, and a new currency called "Torgue Tokens" that can be used to purchase weapons from a new type of vending machines. Each machine offers new weapons, including one legendary weapon as a daily special.
The DLC is centered around the discovery of another Vault on the world of Pandora, located in the colorfully named "Badass Crater of Badassitude." The Vault will only open "once the champion of Pandora feeds it the blood of the ultimate coward," so of course, Mr. Torgue has set up an arena in an attempt to find the champion, and open the vault.
Gearbox has two more add-on campaigns scheduled to release in the coming months.
While it may not be an exact release date, Pitchford did "guarantee that there will be more DLC for Borderlands 2 before the world ends."
