Gears of War: Judgement Release Date: Epic Unveils The Villain In New Trailer (Watch Here)

Epic Games and developer People Can Fly have released a trailer for the highly anticipated Gears of War: Judgment. The trailer originally premiered during the Spike 2012 Video Game Awards.

The game is a prequel to the original trilogy and will take place early on during the Locust War. In fact the game takes place 14 years before the event of the original Gears of War. Many early video have of the game have shown environments that have not been ravaged by years of war like areas seen in the original games.

Lt.Damon Baird leads Pvt. Augustus Cole, Sofia Hendrik, and Garron Paduk in a battle against the Locust in Halvo Bay, during which they steal experimental technology from the Coalition of Ordered Governments. Kilo Squad is then accused of treason by Col. Ezra Loomis and put on trial for charges of treason, desertion and the theft of military technology.

Here is the official synopsis of the trailer from Epic Games:

"Before the rise of the Lambent, the sinking of Jacinto or the detonation of the Lightmass bomb, there was Emergence Day - when the Locust horde burst from the ground and set Sera on a path toward near annihilation. Gears of War: Judgment brings players back to the terrifying aftermath of E-Day."

The new trailer also reveals the game's antagonist Karn, who joins previous villains General RAAM, Skorge and the Locust Queen from the original trilogy. Karn, an imposing locust "grub," is seen in the trailer riding a giant beast. Not much is known about the new villain, but the baddie has something to do with wiping out of cities and the countless deaths of humans during the infamous Emergence Day.

Gears of War: Judgment releases on March 19 2013 exclusively for Microsoft's Xbox 360. Fans who pre-order Gears of War: Judgment at participating retailers will receive a multiplayer weapon at launch, the six shot Hammerburst.
