Worlds Collide: Capcom Introduces Street Fighter X Mega Man

Capcom told us we hadn't seen the last of Mega Man, and they were right.

It's been 25 long years for two of Capcom's flagship franchises, Street Fighter and Mega Man. So what better way to celebrate than by smashing them together? But this isn't some kind of button mashing fighter that pits the two titles against each other, ala Marvel VS Capcom. We've seen enough of that to last us a lifetime.

No, this time, the blue bomber is taking it the world warriors his way, 8-bit style.

Mega Man will go up against eight of the street fighters, and like past Mega titles, absorbs their titles after he defeats them. Of the fighters so far, we've seen Ryu, Rolento, Blanka, Chun-Li, Rose, and Dhalsim.

"Our fans have been so supportive of the 25th Anniversary efforts on Street Fighter, that we wanted to provide one last surprise and token of our appreciation," said Christian Svensson, SVP of Consumer Software at Capcom USA. "This game symbolizes the passion and dedication of our fans and with the 25th Anniversary of Mega Man coming up, we felt it was our duty to bring this wonderful experience to everyone who has shared the last 25 years with us and both of these celebrated franchises."

In addition to the retro look and feel, an original soundtrack created by Luke Esquivel (aka "A_Rival") provides a classic backdrop to the action.

Street Fighter X Mega Man will be a free download on the PC when it launches on Dec. 17. Gamers will be able to download it through Capcom-Unity.
