You many not know his name, but if you've ever played QWOP, GIRP, or more recently, CLOP, you've no doubt felt an unbridled rage at this man. A fury unlike which you may have ever felt before.
That man is Bennett Foddy, and he's taking part in an AMA with fellow indie game designers, J.S Joust creator Doug Wilson, Hokra creator Ramiro Corbetta, and Barabariball creator Noah Sasso over at Reddit.
Head over there now for your chance to ask why he would inflict such a horror on gamers, only to be told by the man himself, "for shi*s and giggles."
Fair enough Mr. Foddy, it's not as if you held a gun to our hands as we endeavored so furiously to get that sprinter over that FRIGGIN' HURDLE! WHY, WHY, WHY WON'T YOU GO?!? RIGHT! WHY ARE YOU GOING BACKWARDS! FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, STOP!
In the off chance you spend your time on more worthwhile things, the video below, complete with all sorts of colorful language, is actually a pretty normal reaction to most of Mr. Foddy's games.
As Bennett reminds us, "There's no 'right' way to play QWOP (there's a wrong way though, when you drag yourself along on one knee)." The physics of QWOP combined with the control scheme is what really gives the game its hair pulling qualities, and how it produces what Bennett calls "unpredictable outcomes. I love the busted physics in the recent FIFA games for this reason - all those hilarious kissing moments really improve the experience for me."
Bennett's next work is Sportsfriends, a collaboration of games that he, Wilson, Corbetta, and Sasso have all worked on. There's a kickstarter for it, and they're a littlle more than halfway to their goal. Bennett also plans on a collaboration with Pen Ward, creator of Cartoon Network's "Adventure Time." He's sharing details now, so hurry over to the AMA now if you have any questions!
