Bioshock Infinite Release Date: The Game Has Been Delayed Again

Irrational Games upcoming first-person shooter video game, Bioshock Infinite has been delayed once again and will now be released on March 26, 2013, a month later than it was previously expected to release.

In a recent interview with IGN, creative director Ken Levine said the game could have been shipped in February, but the studio wanted to polish the game and give fans the game they deserve.

"It's primarily polish and bug fixing," Levine told IGN. "You know, 'let's make that narrative scene that much better. Let's do another pass on the timing of that scene. Let's do another balance pass.' It's a game we could have shipped in February. It just wouldn't be the game that we think the fans deserve. And that doesn't mean it was far off from that, but they deserve what they deserve. And when we ask people to pony up a lot of money for this game, we have to feel confident that we're giving them something that they deserve."

Levine said that the studio is ready for criticism about the delay and that in the end day the game will last beyond the criticism.

"I knew I was going to take some slings and arrows about it," Levine told IGN. "But I always just said 'look, at the end of the day, the slings and arrows will go away. The game will last forever.'"

The game will move the series from the underwater city of Rapture to Columbia, a flying city that was built and launched in 1900 by the American government. The city remained isolated from the U.S. and a civil war broke out between fractions of citizens.

The game's protagonist is former Pinkerton agent, Booker DeWitt. He is sent to the city in 1912 to find a young woman named Elizabeth, who has been held captive in Columbia for the last twelve years

This is the second time the game has been delayed. Bioshock Infinite was originally set to release in October before being delayed to February 2013.
