Pokemon Go" has been a hit worldwide, but as months past, its number of active users has been declining. After losing over 10 million players, the game is now trying and doing its best to maintain its popularity.
For Niantic Labs, they have to do something to keep their remaining fans interested in playing "Pokemon Go." This is the company's goal and main focus right now so they are working on new features to add in the game. Niantic's efforts in developing something new has resulted to the creation of "Pokemon Go" buddy system. The team is hoping that this will make the gameplay more absorbing and exciting for everyone.
The new feature was revealed on Sept. 2 after it was leaked to the public by a fan who discovered it after sifting through the games' codes. Since it is already out, Niantic made the official announcement on Friday. "The next addition to Pokémon GO will be Buddy Pokémon," The Pokémon GO Development Team wrote on its website.
What is the Buddy System?
This feature will allow players to travel or explore the surroundings with a Pokemon to accompany them. This means that the player can pick any pocket monster that he likes and they can travel together to hunt or go to Pokestops and gyms. Of course, the creature will be traveling outside of its Pokeball.
What can be gained from the "Pokemon Go" Buddy System?
On the screen, the chosen Pokemon Buddy's profile will appear beside the trainer's avatar. Being with a buddy can help in acquiring extra bonuses like for instance, just walking together can earn the player some Candies. According to Niantic, having a Buddy will also open up various rewards and experiences.
Which Pokemon will make the best Buddy?
Players can choose any Pokemon to be their buddy. However, it is beneficial to pick according to the ones that can evolve into rare creatures or simply go for the rare pocket monsters itself.
Based on the list posted on Pokemon Go Hub, the best buddies to choose are Charmeleon/Charmander, Dratini/Dragonair, Omanyte, Kabuto and Grimer. Just by walking along with them will help you earn one candy for every two kilometer distance. Gaining 100 to 125 candies can already evolve the Chamrmeleon into a Charizard and Dratini into a Dragonite.
The other best picks are Wartortle/Squirtle, Gloom, Weepinbell, Machoke and Haunter. They can evolve into rare Pokemon and have low spawn rates so they are good choices.
Finally, the "Pokemon Go" Buddy system was said to be game's biggest and first update to come this month. This update is expected to be released this week.
