It's been more than a decade since fans saw the last of the Parr family in Pixar's "The Incredibles." Now, "The Incredibles 2" has already been confirmed but, so far, there aren't a lot of details about the movie yet. Original writer and director Brad Bird only confirmed that the sequel is happening but fans will have to continue waiting for the details.
Although the production has been mum about the plot details, Bird hinted that "The Incredibles 2" could be refreshing for the audience and that the sequel will offer something new. ""It's very actively moving, and we're excited about it," Bird told Entertainment Weekly. "[We're] trying to take it in some new directions," he added.
In the same interview, Bird also added that the sequel will feature "same characters and feel," but he highlighted that the movie will go into a new direction. The director also explained last year in an interview with IGN that "The Incredibles 2" will focus more on the characters instead of their abilities. "Powers themselves are not that interesting, it's the people that are interesting and how they react to having those powers," Bird told the publication.
Since fans are still being left in the dark when it comes to the sequel's plot, rumors about what's going to happen in the upcoming movie continue to make the rounds. According to speculation, "The Incredibles 2" will have a time-jump, introducing adult Violet and Dash, while the youngest of the Parrs, Jack-Jack, will be a teenager.
Rumors about Jack-Jack becoming a rebel and even going against the family are also rampant. It was also reported that Jack-Jack will be the sequel's big bad as he discovers he has super powers. These are purely speculations and since there isn't any confirmation yet from the production team, fans should take them with a grain of salt. "The Incredibles 2" is scheduled to hit theaters on June 21, 2019.
