‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ Release Date, News & Update: Vin Diesel Confirmed Joining Film? James Gunn Teased About Baby Groot!

Groot is undoubtedly one of the well-loved characters from "The Guardians of the Galaxy." With the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" slated to release in 2017, fans are looking forward to the return of the alien tree monster. However, it may be a bit of a sad thing for fans since it was confirmed by director James Gunn that the Groot in the sequel will not remember any of its adventures from the original movie.

It can be recalled that in the previous movie, Groot sacrificed himself to save his friends. He may have survived the ordeal but he became a smaller twig referred to as "baby Groot." Gunn has recently shared hints about what baby Groot will be when the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" premieres. According to the director, who was answering fan questions on Facebook, baby Groot will no longer have Groot's memories.

There have also been questions from fans about baby Groot's voice. The big, walking tree was voiced by Vin Diesel in the original movie and now fans are wondering if the "The Fast and the Furious" actor will still be back to do the voice of the baby version of Groot in the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" film. . Nothing has been confirmed yet but Gunn only said that Diesel is capable of changing his voices, so they are still trying to think of an approach to the matter. According to ScreenRant, it might also be possible that there will be post-production editing on Diesel's voice to make it sound like a young Groot.

Baby Groot's voice is of much interest to the fans but, for now, it's still unknown if Diesel will be doing the character's voice in the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" movie. Apart from the voice, baby Groot is also expected to be a totally different character, according to executive producer Jonathan Schwartz.

Schwartz mentioned to Entertainment Weekly that baby Groot is a "younger" and "more rambunctious" version. Fans will have to wait for the release of the sequel to find out if Groot is the same character but with a reduced size or a different one that grew from the original Groot's seed.
