Virtual reality newcomer PlayStation VR is all set for Oct 13 release but hints freebies ahead of schedule. Popular titles "EVE Valkyrie," "Battlezone," "DriveClub" and others are bundled in every VR headset purchase via demo versions.
PlayStation VR's introduction freebies come in handy discs instead of codes for download links. Contrary to codes where gamers will wait several hours downloading contents, discs provide outright experience. PlayStation VR's full array include eight titles varying from point-and-shoot to flight control themes, according to PlayStation Universe.
Interesting among the titles is EVE Valkyrie considering that it is part of rival Oculus Rift launch. Other notable titles are "Wayward Sky," "Headmaster," "Mechanized Combat League" and "Tumble VR." Last in the set is "PlayStation VR Worlds" which intends to showcase the headset's capability for future VR titles, says IBTimes.
Gamers should remember that these discs are not the full version of the games but "demo." Sony stressed that the aim is not to dole out titles but to let gamers grasp PlayStation VR's capabilities. This is sort of "break in" period for the headset while planning for purchase of full game.
For those who want to grab PlayStation VR via pre-order, the headset costs $399. Keep in mind though that gamers still need to connect this VR headset to PlayStation 4 console. What comes with headset purchase are cables and connectors only and no controllers. Of course PS4 comes with DualShock controllers so no worry here.
According to CNet, the sure add-on purchase is PlayStation Camera that costs $60. This component is vital with Move controller to track the gamer's motions.
Meanwhile, PlayStation maker Sony will hold a conference in Sept 8, Thursday for presentation of PlayStation 4 Slim. However, gamers are already expecting a late-shift to PlayStation VR ahead of shipping date.
