DmC: Devil May Cry's Son of Sparda Special Edition Box Art and Details Revealed

The box art for DmC: Devil May Cry's special Son of Sparda edition has debuted to little fan fare. This new reveal doesn't come courtesy of Capcom, but rather, a NeoGAFuser. Capcom may have had a little anxiety about releasing this as the special edition's official art, and understandably so.

As the game is a re-boot featuring a significantly younger Dante, maybe Capcom is offering a look at his akward teen years? If so, mission accomplished.

In related news, we've learned what the special edition will be offering as order incentives for gamers. It comes with Dante's necklace, as well as a "Samurai Pack," transforming Dante's shotgun, scythe and axe into "samurai devastators." Players who get the special edition also land free upgrade points, offering a head start to players instantly upgrade weapons, combos and items once starting the game.

The DmC: Devil May Cry demo is out now for fans to try.

The game is set in a parallel universe from the original Devil May Cry series. Set in Limbo City, a younger, non-silver haired Dante comes across "The Order," is a shadowy organization led by Dante's brother Vergil that has been fighting against Limbo's demons. During the events of the game, Dante learns of his true heritage, that of half-angel and half-demon, and is frequently taunted and stalked by the demon Mundus, the antagonisnt of the first Devil May Cry title.

Capcom recently announced DLC for the new Devil May Cry, titled Vergil's Downfall, which returns Dante's brother Vergil to the story. According to a press release from Capcom, "Vergil's Downfall offers fans the opportunity to play as one of the most wanted Devil May Cry characters, Vergil, in an all new storyline with fresh gameplay including new weapons, combos, enemies, and locations."

DmC: Devil May Cry is set to arrive on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on Jan. 15, in North America and Europe, followed by a PC release shortly thereafter. Check out the trailer below!
