Visceral Games And Electronic Arts have released a new batch of screenshots for the upcoming survival horror space video game, Dead Space 3.
The horrors of space are rendered beautifully in the set of images and display the game's graphically improvements over previous entries in the franchise. The screenshots showcase some of EarthGov's soldiers, humans in spacesuits, and a couple of Necromorphs. Series protagonist Isaac Clarke also makes a few appearances in the batch of images.
Cooperative game mode character, EarthGov Sergeant John Carver is also shown in the pictures. Carver is the second playable protagonist for gamers, who want to take on the evils of space with a partner.
According to a Visceral team member's post on the Aegis7 forum, Carver is a character that is specific to the co-op mode and he will appear scarcely in the single player game mode.
"We know that some of our players really enjoy the feeling of isolation that Dead Space 1 and to a lesser extent 2 provide," a Visceral team member said. "If you play by yourself, Carver is not there. He is not in the game as an AI follower, he may appear at some points (as do other NPCs) but for the most part he is not there. We adjust the game to deal with the cases where there is someone playing Carver and he is actually present, not the other way around."
Here is the game's official synopsis from Visceral and EA:
"Isaac Clarke returns, joined by merciless soldier John Carver, to chase a risky plan that promises to finally stop the Necromorphs. Together Clarke and Carver must explore the frozen planet of Tau Volantis and track down the secret they hope will end the Necromorph plague forever, all while overcoming avalanches, treacherous ice-climbs, and the violent wilderness. Facing deadlier evolved enemies and brutal elements, the unlikely pair must work together to save mankind from the impending apocalypse."
Dead Space 3 will release on Feb. 5, 2013 for Windows PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. You can check out all of the new images in our slideshow above
