'House of Cards' Season 5 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Mahershala Ali Explains Why Series is Moving On Without Remy Denton

"House of Cards' Season 5 next season will no longer see Remy Denton, one of the original cast members of the series. Mahershala Ali who plays Remy has been busy filming Netflix and Marvel's "Luke Cage." However, other than the issue with his schedule, he believes that Remy's character has run his course.

Ali clarified that he did not quit from "House of Cards' Season 5. He explained that his character no longer has anything to offer in the show. He specified that he cannot say that he wants to do more as it may not also work for the show, Deadline reported.

The actor revealed that he no longer feels that there is a lot more to explore in his character. He added that if the team behind "House of Cards' Season 5 did not agree with him, then he should not be out of the contract. However, the team understood that they already had a good run and now they need to move on.

Ali continued to say that as he have said this before, every show has a shelf life. He is not sure if "House of Cards' Season 5 may work for seven or eight seasons but his character also has a shelf life. He thinks it was just time to close Remy's storyline out while it still meant something to people.

However, Ali is reportedly pleased at how Remy's character evolved in the four seasons of "House of Cards' Season 5. His character evolved from a calculated political operative to an agent of change, apparently. Remy started out a certain way and over the arc of his time in the seasons, he went through a very deep emotional shift, Ali explained, Digital Spy reported.

"House of Cards' Season 5. Will see Ali this season. However, his fans can still see him with Mike Colter in Marvel's "Luke Cage" which is slated for a Sept. 30 debut.  Watch "House Of Cards" Season 4 Epic Ending here.
