Gearbox released a new video for the upcoming Aliens: Colonial Marines, showing the transformation of Hadley's Hope from concept art to how the environment will look in-game. Check it out below!
Short but sweet, with a touch of intimidation.
Fans will remember Hadley's Hope as the human colony from planet LV-426, a terrarformed planet that featured as the main setting for "Aliens." Taking place after the events of the movie "Alien 3," players wil return to the LV-426 with another crew of marines, who are searching the planet for Ellen Ripley and fellow colonial marines. Other settings will include the derelict ship, and the U.S.S Sulaco.
There's also a good chance that we'll get a few new alien types when the game is released. Said Gearbox CEO / President, Randy Pitchford, "Hives of aliens can conceivably have different types of aliens working together, and maybe in the films we didnt see all the types. Maybe in the videogame we could see more of these types, so this inspired us to dream up more of how an alien hive would function and what other kind of xenos would be part of that function."
Ever ready to eliminate the xenomorph menace are the armed to the teeth marines. According to writer Mikey Neumann, "We have every weapon from the film in the game, and we also have some new ones." So expect to see some other heavy armaments in addition to pulse rifles, smart guns, and flame throwers.
Gearbox has announced that a Wii U version with plans to implement the famous motion tracker in the tablet controller is in the works.
Aliens: Colonial Marines will release for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on Feb. 12, 2013. Outstanding. Now all we need is a deck of cards.
