Filmmakers are now moving forward with technology while creating new films. A new film by 20th Century Fox titled "Morgan" is going to air and the IBM Research Scientists together with the Fox created the first cognitive movie trailer.
"Morgan" is a sci-fi thriller of a synthetic humanoid created by scientists and has gone out of control. The film stars, Kate Mara and Paul Giamatti. As much as the film is of a sci-fi thriller, its trailer is done by IBM Watson which is America's AI expert.
The creativity part in making the trailer still needs the human touch, but the time element in making it reduced to a few, as cited by Popsci. In this case, the job is done fast. The machine learning and experimental Watson API's are used by IBM in getting the film done. In this case, the whole process which usually takes several weeks to be finished is done for only hours.
Watson API is used to analyze the film in order to create a trailer, reports IndieWire. The end result is of a brand new clip that has a darker tone to the film. It also adds scenes that are not included in the official trailers.
A.I. also was used to co-write a horror film as this was the case with "Impossible Things." An A.I. has been developed to break down the plots and connect those plots into a point that can connect with the audience. The Natural Language Processing (NLP) is used by the A.I.'s to dissect the film.
Technology has gone far by helping humans in making creative things. "Morgan" is the one example that technology and humans are collaborating. This is just the beginning of it and there are more to come in this field.
"Morgan" was already released on the theater halls last September 2, 2016, but as for its overall performance, it remains unsettled for now.
