The latest Instagram iOS update allows users to zoom on photos and videos. The Instagram "Zoom," feature is a long-awaited addition and Instagram users are loving every bit of it. As the name suggests, the feature allows users to have a closer view of photos and videos in their feed.
Up to now photos and videos on Instagram were static squares and a user had to first take a screenshot and then zoom using a different photo platform. Users seem really happy with the latest update as they can now simply pinch to zoom on photos and videos in feed, on profiles and on Explore, writes iTech Post.
"Zoom" has been made available to iOS users first and will gradually be made available to android users too. Instagram "Stories" was released earlier this month. Instagram is now making changes to its platform frequently starting with its logo and then introducing Boomerang, a short video feature that lets users loop videos forwards then backwards.
The Instagram team is focused on improving the core parts of the app. Instagram introduced the "Zoom" update via its Instagram account last week. The update has also improved the "Instagram Stories" feature and adds a few enhancements to it.
The Instagram "Zoom" feature is available in both the user feed as well as the "Explore" section. The feature also works for videos. Users now will have to upload high resolution photos so that they don't pixelate once zoomed in.
The last Instagram iOS update also introduced a video channel on "Explore." The channel shows live events such as sporting events, parties and concerts. As of now, this feature is only available to users in the US.
The Instagram "Zoom" feature has made the Instagram "Stories" section faster and better. There's a new night mode button in the capture view that takes better photos in low light, writes N4BB. Apart from the "Zoom" feature, there are a number of bug fixes as well. The latest Instagram update can be downloaded from the App Store.
