Elizabeth Banks herself welcomed the new director for "Pitch Perfect 3," Trish Sie, in her Twitter account. A photo of Banks and Sie with "Pitch Perfect" posters behind them could be seen with a caption saying that the show has a new leader.
Trish Sie is well equipped with experiences that she can use in her new role in "Pitch Perfect 3." She directed the "Step Up All In" movie in 2014 which was the reason why she bagged the role, according to Hollywood Reporter. As we all know, the fifth installment was a dance-themed franchise.
As a choreographer, Trish Sie has also created music videos for OK Go, whose front man, Damian Kulash, was her brother, according to Entertainment Weekly. One of her current popular videos is "Here It Goes Again," "A Million Ways" and "Upside Down & Inside Out."
Initially, it was Jason Moore who was first approached by producers Banks, Paul Brooks and Max Handelman to helm "Pitch Perfect 3." Moore was the director of the first movie franchise. However, he is unavailable because he is already committed to "Sisters" with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
"Pitch Perfect 3" will still have Banks as a producer and as the a cappella commentator in the person of Gail. Universal and Gold Circle planned to release the movie on July 21 next year, but with Banks moving out, it was postponed to Dec 22.
Stars like Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Hailee Steinfeld and Rebel Wilson are expected to return to "Pitch Perfect 3." These stars have pitched their talents in the first two films to earn a gross of more than $400 million global sales.
Helping Trish Sie as the new director for "Pitch Perfect 3" are writers Kay Cannon and Mike White, producers Paul Brooks and Scott Niemeyer. Stay tuned to GameNGuide for the latest news and update of "Pitch Perfect 3."
