This young adult generation's memories of the early "Final Fantasy" series revolve around the PlayStation-exclusive titles: "Final Fantasy 7," "Final Fantasy 8," "Final Fantasy Tactics," "9," "10," and so on. Is it possible that the upcoming "Final Fantasy 7" remake could be a throwback to those days by only being available for the PlayStation 4?
The Bitbag speculates that this might be the case for "Final Fantasy 7" as apparently only the PlayStation logo appears on all the trailers we've seen for the game so far. Rumors of Square Enix's "Kingdom Hearts 3," which features both Disney and "Final Fantasy" universes, possibly not releasing for Xbox One fuel this flame as well. It also doesn't help that Microsoft has never released any information about the remake possibly being available for Xbox One, or even the PC.
The only thing that would somewhat confirm a possible Xbox One release for the "Final Fantasy 7" remake would be the fact that Square Enix's other "Final Fantasy" property, "Final Fantasy 15" is still dropping for the console. It's not really much to go on, but since Square Enix started giving Xbox players love with "Final Fantasy 13" and "Final Fantasy 11," it would be strange to not release a remake of the game on the console.
The "Final Fantasy 7" remake is set to be a complete revamping of the game. As opposed to a mere remastering, Square Enix is rebuilding the game from the ground up, retaining the story and the sequences but totally changing the way the game will be played.
Instead of a traditional JRPG, the game will be an action RPG more in line with "Final Fantasy 12" and "Final Fantasy 15." Due to the sheer ambition of the remake, however, "Final Fantasy 7" will be released episodically. We just don't know when it's coming out, though, but we'll update you with more information as we get them.
