Apple has made an announcement about its expansion of iCloud data storage. This is a good additional feature for those who uses iPhone in photography and other power users.
The new 2 TB iCloud storage option was announced last August 30 which will be available at a price of $19,99 per month. This has been introduced as a part for the update of Apple's iCloud storage support site. The upgrade has already exist in all places where iCloud is already available/
According to Apple Insider, the price of iCloud has been last updated for almost a year ago where Apple disregard the 500 GB option. Users back then are said to pay $3.99 monthly fee for a 200GB plan and $19.99 per month for the iCloud's 1 TB package.
Apple is said to be keeping their existing plans with 99 cents monthly fee for 50 GB, $2.99 monthly fee for 200 GB and $9.99 monthly fee for 1 TB iCloud storage as per iTech Post. And now, the new 2 TB iCloud storage will be available for $19.99 per month.
This iCloud pricing of Apple is said to be is similar to Google Drive's 1 TB storage for $9.99 per month but is more than the 1 TB plan of Microsoft for $6.99 monthly fee according to an article by The Verge. For those iOS and Mac users who do not pay for iCloud can get a default amount of 5 GB storage for free.
This new iCloud storage expansion is caused by Apple's goal to achieve to make a bigger online services business. Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple said in the their recent earnings conference call that they are expecting that the online services business will make a revenue which will equal to the Fortune 500 company by 2017.
Apple is said to also include iTunes, Apple Music, Apple Pay and many App Stores aside from iCloud storage. The online services business sector of Apple has made a record of $6 billion for their June quarter which clearly shows a boost of 19 percent every year.
