There is a new update for the Pandora Xbox One app that will provide background music support. As a result, players can choose to listen to music while they play games or open other apps. Microsoft's Groove Music actually has Pandora support at present.
Mike Ybarra, Xbox engineering lead, stated that the update for the Pandora app that allows the new functionality will be launched on Aug. 31, 2016. Early in August, an Xbox One update unlocked background music support, although it can initially only be done via apps created by other developers.
Microsoft and other popular music-streaming groups did not offer such support before. Earlier in August, the Xbox One app for Microsoft's Groove Music service has been updated to allow background music support.
Xbox Wire stated that Xbox One players can begin enjoying Pandora tunes by opening the new app. Play the chosen tunes and then use the Home Button to navigate to the app or game to play. Once the background music is playing on the Xbox One, double-tap the Home button to reveal the guide that will let you adjust and switch songs instantly. The new Xbox One app will be a great way for gamers to enjoy their favorite titles together with their most preferred hits.
GameSpot noted that shortly after Ybarra announced the Pandora update on Xbox One, he was asked whether Microsoft also plans to include Spotify support in the near future. The Xbox engineering head did not reply yet, although some Xbox One fans are optimistic that the project will be in place soon. Spotify previously collaborated with Sony to feature PlayStation Music, which supports background music so there is also a huge chance that they will work together again.
In the meantime, Xbox One players may find a partnership between Sony and another app that provides background music support soon. The current apps that offer such function include Groove Music Pass, VLC and Simple Background Music Player. Xbox One gamers expressed their appreciation for the new background music support and many will most likely try it soon. More updates and details on Xbox One are expected soon.
