Nintendo's new console, the Wii U, hit stores a little over 24 hours ago. And in that short amount of time, a user managed to access what looked like a debug menu, allowing access to administrators and password generation.
NeoGAF user Trike was simply " messing around in Miiverse trying to find out how the hell to do the initial set-up" when he stumbled what looked like a debug menu (seen below).
Looking into some more of the photos that Trike posted shows a list of games, hinting at possibled upcoming titles. Among the games listed were Metroid, Yoshi's Land Wii U, Donkey Kong, Wii Fit, Soul Hackers, Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy 3, and Dragon Quest 10. Whether these are placeholders or actual future games, Nintendo hasn't specified, though they have since posted an official statement on the matter, saying:
"It has come to our attention that some people were able to access a mock up menu on Miiverse following the launch of Wii U in the US. Please note that this was only a mock up menu and has now been removed and is not accessible."
I'm inclined to believe Nintendo on this, as the chance that the games listed actually are upcoming titles is about as likely as Brad Pitt, John Lennon, and Tom Cruise regularly posting on the forum. But if a new Yoshi title is announced any time soon, then we all have Trike to thank for the heads up.
