Nintendo Wii U Release Date in One Day: GamePad, Nintendo TVii And The Best Reasons To Buy The System

Nintendo's upcoming video game console, the Wii U will release in North America this Sunday Nov. 18 and will be available in two versions: a "Basic" white-colored version with 8 GB of internal Flash storage for $299.99 and a Deluxe black-colored version with 32 GB of Flash storage, which includes stand and docks for $349.99.

Last time we gave you a list of five games you should think about picking up with the system. Now here is a list five features or items that make Wii U a great system for video gamers.

5.Wii U GamePad: This one of the best reasons to buy a Wii U. The 6.2-inch touch screen controller will provide console gamers with a second screen experience, video voice chat and the ability to play games away from the TV set.  The GamePad does have a pretty big flaw. It will need a separate power outlet to charge, but it is still pretty cool and innovative idea. When developers figure out how to better utilize the device, it will change the way we game.

4. Video on Demand and Nintendo TVii: In the coming months gamers will be able to watch movies and television shows on the Wii U with service such as Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus and Netflix. Yes this has been available on other consoles before, but that just means it is a necessity of modern day video game consoles. Nintendo TVii will also let gamers access these service and watch YouTube videos and channels through the YouTube application.

3. External Hard Drives: If your are not happy with the storage capacity of your new Wii U, just plug in an external hard drive and expand the storage capacity of systems. Gamers will be able to save downloadable content for select games, such as additional items, levels or maps. This is a very important feature with the mass amount of DLC that comes to video games these days. Lets face it 8GB and 32 GB is just not enough for modern gaming.

2. Compatibility with the Wii: Wii U is backward compatible with almost all Wii games and Wii accessories. So if you already own a Wii and have some great games for that system you can play them on the Wii U. Your Wii Remote, nunchuk, and Wii Board are all compatible with certain games on the new system. Compatibility is always a great thing and makes the transition to a new system a little bit easier, plus you can trade in your old system and get a few buck off the new Wii U.

1. Games: The Wii U is launching with 29 packaged games and a few digital games when it releases. So there should hypothetically be a game for every type of gamer. Here is a list of some of the games that will be available on launch day: Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros. U, SiNG PARTY, NINJA GAIDEN 3: Razor's Edge, Just Dance 4, Assassin's Creed III, ZombiU, Skylanders Giants and Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, FIFA Soccer 13 and Madden NFL 13, NBA 2K13, Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition and Scribblena
