"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is readying itself to bring in another character to its fold - Harry Osborn, reports have suggested.
Osborn was Peter Parker's close friend, who eventually becomes his enemy.
Three actors have been the contenders so far for Osborn's role: Brady Corbet ("Melancholia"), Dane DeHaan ("Chronicle") and Alden Ehrenreich ("Beautiful Creatures").
The main difference between Mark Webb's version of "Spider-Man" and the earlier trilogy of Sam Raimi is the absence of the characters Mary-Jane and Harry Osborn.
Shailene Woodley was confirmed to play the character of Mary-Jane Watson.
There have also been rumors of Harry's father, Norman Osborn or the Green Goblin making an appearance in the movie.
Andrew Garfield, who will play the lead in the movie, confirmed in an interview on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" this week that the movie will start production in February. "I feel really excited, I feel like we got over a hump with our first one," he said.
"We had to reinstate the character, and we had to reinvigorate an audience to the character. And I hope to bring more of this theme the theme of the orphan. I wanna keep exploring that theme of being fatherless, being motherless, searching for purpose and finding a purpose within himself, being a self-made man, I guess," ComingSoon reported.
The Spider-Man costume will be changed. "The suit is undergoing a redesign because I couldn't urinate in it last time," Garfield said. "So I'm less nervous 'cause that's gonna be nice," he said. He added that the costume will feature "Bigger Eyes" and "Gnarly web shoorters."
Jamie Foxx will play the character of Electro.
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is scheduled for release May 2, 2014.
