GTA 5 New Details, Characters Revealed; New Trailer To Release Nov. 14

Details of the GTA 5's graphics, visuals and advancements on RAGE (Rockstar Advanced Game Engine) were revealed by Dan Houser, vice president of creativity at Rockstar Games in an interview to GameInformer via Gamepur.

"There have been some very nice advances in the lighting and shader model that gives us much more control and variety. The ramp up in scale has been exciting, new features that have meant essentially we draw everything into the distance."

"We used to 'only' render 1.5 km at most in 4, now we render the most distant mountains at the other end of the world many, many miles away. You can even see the little lights on the streets or on buildings draw right into the distance. It all gives the world a whole lot more solidarity. Really though, on a project this size there's a million things, small and big., that have given us the ability to push the experience."

Details of Grand Theft Auto 5 were revealed on a fan-made GTA 5 Facebook page:

* Police chases among random events that happen in the world

* Franklin works for an Armenian luxury car dealership

* The Salton Sea area is named Alamo Sea

* Protag switching is from a menu that displays which character is available to switch to. Camera zooms out from the current protag, Pans across the map in an aerial view, and then zooms in on the chosen protag.

* GTA 5 is about 5 times bigger than 4

* Mini-map/radar displays horizon for flying

* Switching protags during missions can make the mission play out in many different ways depending on your actions

* All protags involved must survive missions

* Story mission co-op is very unlikely

Three new characters have been revealed for the game - a retired former criminal Michael, Trevor and ex-street gangster Franklin.

Though there has been no news of the PC version of GTA 5, Examiner says that fans need not worry, as the game usually rolls out PC versions six to eight months after the console launch. Only Chinatown Wars and Vice City Stories did not get a PC version, as they were for mobile platforms, Examiner reported.

The game will have a second trailer releasing Nov. 14. The official website is running a real-time countdown for the trailer release.

GTA 5 will launch in Spring 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
