"The Leftovers" Season 3 will be the final offer of its creator Damon Lindelof based on Tom Perrotta's novel with the same title. The 43-year-old television writer set the television drama series in Australia, where Kevin Garvey Sr. (Scott Glenn) tried to find some answer.
Australia Helps Damon Lindelof To Develop 'The Leftovers' Season 3
"He's been wandering the continent, and his journeys culminate in the Melbourne area at around the same time the rest of the show is basically colliding with him," Damon Lindelof said about Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux) journey in Australia in an interview with The Music. However, the producer keeps mum about the connection of the Australians with "The Leftovers" Season 3 and its last eight episodes.
The only words Damon Lindelof said about Australia is that the Australian people who help them work for "The Leftovers" Season 3 are far more awesome. Aside from that, he also revealed that being in Australia and different locations for "The Leftovers" gives him the inspiration to make its plotline more extensive with an appealing visual palette.
In fact, Damon Lindelof admitted that he did a little research about the films of Australia in the 1970s, particularly, Peter Weir's "Picnic At Hanging Rock" and "The Last Wave." If truth be told, these films help the screenwriter to develop "The Leftovers" Season 3 episodes. "The gravity of the story was sort of pulling us here," he said.
New Character in Store for 'The Leftovers' Season 3
Meanwhile, Katia Herbers is set to appear in "The Leftovers" Season 3, although his character is not yet revealed, according to Deadline. Along with Damon Lindelof, "The Leftovers" is also co-created by Tom Perrotta, who originally wrote the 2011 novel. "The Leftovers" Season 2 explored its primary concept, which is The Rapture, and "The Leftovers" Season 3 is set to reveal the reaction of the people to this unexplainable natural event. "The Leftovers" Season 3 is set to be out in 2017 on HBO.
