Hitman: Absolution Has A New Trailer (Watch It Here)

Square Enix released the latest in its introductory trailers for the upcoming Hitman: Absolution video game. The trailer doesn't necessarily show off a particular feature in the game as much as it shows off Agent-47's aptitude at getting the job done.

Hitman: Absolution will run on the Glacier 2 game engine and gamers will be encouraged to find stealthier methods to accomplish their goals, but will still be able to go in guns blazing.

In a 2011 interview with Digital Trends, director Tore Blystad explained that the game would be more accessible than previous titles in the series.

"The Hitman games of the past have been very hardcore. Even though the fantasy of the Hitman universe has a very universal appeal, the games have been so difficult to play, that it's been more of an acquired taste," Blystad told Digital Trend. "The biggest challenge that we had with this game was to make it much broader in every sense, so that it was easier to play and more accessible, but still retain a very strong, hardcore side as well. We don't want to alienate any of our fans who have been extremely loyal for so many years."

In the new trailer IO Interactive showcases some of the many tools that are available to Agent 47. The titular Hitman can assassinate his contract using many methods including stealth and disguises, but the trailer mostly shows the darker aspects of being a contract killer.

In interview with PC World, Blystad said that a lot of the game is up to the player, as he or she will have to discover the best tools and methods to accomplish each contract.

"It's completely up to the player, but it gives a lot of responsibility to the player because they actively have to discover for themselves which tools are available and how to use them," Blystad told PC World. Do they just want to go in and shoot the target in the face and see if they can get away with it or do they want to make an elaborate plan and see how it unfolds? The big, big challenge is it's not that common in games that you have this freedom of choice."

Hitman Absolution is will release worldwide for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC on Nov. 20, except for in Japan where it will be released on Jan. 24, 2013.
