'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Release Date & Cast Updates: Leaked Call Sheet Names Hannibal Buress, Martin Starr, Kenneth Choi; Fans Not Happy With Zendaya Being Mary Jane?

No "Spider-Man" movie would not be complete without a cast as awesome as the superhero himself. "Spiderman: Homecoming" will be offering that and much more based on an alleged leaked call sheet.

Some names that floated include Hannibal Buress, Martin Starr, Kenneth Choi, Selenis Leyva, and Tunder Adebimpe, writes Movie News Guide. All of them will be portraying high school staff. While these names are not very well known, they could have significant roles in "Spider-Man: Homecoming." Adebimpe might be playing Professor Cobbwell. Selenis Leyva might be in the gender swapped role of Professor Miles Warren. Kenneth Choi's character might be closely connected to his role in the first Captain America, especially since the movies now share one universe.

Rumours have also been circulating that Angourie Rice will be playing Betty Brandt. Bokeem Woodbine has also been allegedly shortlisted to play popular Spider-Nan nemesis Herman Schultz.

Most significantly, it has been rumored that Zendaya has been cast as Mary Jane Watson - and some fans are not happy with this, saying that she is not a perfect fit for Spiderman's love interest. Cinema Blend reports that the displeasure was not based in the racial discrepancy, but on the character itself. Marvel Studios big boss James Gunn gave his two cents on a Facebook post as to why the difference in race should not even be an issue and that there could absolutely be no reason why Zendaya cannot be a perfect Mary Jane.

In the post, he says that if a character's primary attributes like the skin or hair color, which makes them iconic, then that character "is shallow and sucks." He adds that what makes Mary Jane Watson who she is is her "alpha female playfulness." He adds that Zendaya matches what he thinks of Mary Jane's primary characteristics as she is tall, thin and beautiful.

While James Gunn skews in favor of Zendaya bagging the leading lady role, he actually has no insider knowledge yet as to who Zendaya will be playing. He,however, maintains a strong stance in character diversity when it comes to movies since he believes that these should be reflective of "our diverse present world."

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" is to premiere in July 7, 2017. It stars Tom Holland as the young Peter Parker.
