‘The Flash’ Season 3 Spoilers & Latest News: Speed Force To Empower ‘King Grodd’ Too?

“The Flash” season 3 has so far touched on the new characters being introduced though there are still a lot from the previous seasons held up somewhere on other earths or via altered timelines. One villain seemingly out of the mix is “Gorilla Grodd”.

Most of the new characters were mentioned in previous posts, the last of which was about "Mirror Master" (Grey Damon). You can check out that post here.

Grodd confirmed to return

The latest from executive producer Andrew Kreisberg is that “Grodd” will be indeed returning for season 3. It will be a two-part episode that will take place in “Gorilla City”.

The last time “Grodd” appeared on “The Flash” was when he was tricked into going through an Earth-2 portal leading to “Gorilla City”. To recall, Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) explained that it was the settlement for other apes who were subject of scientific experiments, Collider reported.

What is the two-part series in Gorilla City?

Kreisberg didn’t elaborate much on that but “The Flash” fans don’t need to fret. If there is any reference on what could possibly transpire, the comics are the best place to find answers.

With “Flashpoint” the theme for the third season, there is a chance that “Grodd’s” re-emergence could carry an angle to the “Speed Force”. In the “The Flash: Gorilla Warfare” issue, “Grodd” would somehow come across the “Speed Force”. And from there, it looks like “Grodd” (or “King Grodd”) will have some vested interest which means he will not only be big and witty but fast as well.

Rogues to fight alongside “The Flash”

If volume 2 of “The Flash” (“Rogue’s Revolution”) is any indication, “Barry (Allen)” and “Grodd” will be in for another battle though sane elderly apes will become a factor. Moving past the two-part episode of “The Flash”, there is a chance that it could evolve into a future storyline. If so, this hints at a possible gorilla invasion led no less by “Grodd”.

Once that happens, the whole scenario offers a “Planet of the Apes”-like of a scene which means that the “Rogues” (“Captain Cold”, “Weather Master”, “Trickster”, “Heatwave”, and “Glider”) may have to set aside their differences to fend off the impending threat. Somehow that angle seems to hint at a major crossover though all that remains to be seen.

Before getting ahead of ourselves, let us see how things pan up starting this October. “The Flash” season 3 officially return on Oct. 4 via CW.
